Mistake # 1: In order to be cheap, choose universal materials directly

The packaging requirements for liquids, juices, and detergents are completely different.

Some buyers prefer to directly choose PET/PE structure because of its low price and fast delivery time. However, acidic fruit juices, high oil sauces, detergents containing surfactants, and even products with strong fragrances may have higher packaging requirements.

Mismatched materials usually do not immediately cause trouble.

It could be due to layering starting a few weeks after transportation, or it could be because the shelf life has not yet ended and the product’s odor and condition have changed. The few cents saved from packaging can easily be swallowed up by the loss of the entire batch of products.

The material structure should be determined around the content. When higher barrier is required, an aluminum foil layer can be added; When the transportation environment is complex and the bag requires stronger puncture resistance, materials such as NY may need to be added.

Mistake # 2: The bag is made, but it cannot run through the filling line

This problem is more common than imagined.

If the diameter of the suction nozzle is slightly different, the equipment fixture may not be accurately positioned; The size of the lid is matched, but the torque for screwing the lid is not appropriate, and there may still be slippage and loose tightening during the production process. There is also a form of guide rail.

The sample is placed on the table and everything is normal. After entering the high-speed filling line, the problem truly began.

The bag is stuck.

Repeatedly adjust.

Before procurement, the filling equipment parameters, nozzle specifications, lid requirements, and automation methods should be submitted to the packaging factory for confirmation. Samples that can be tested online have more reference value than a few specification drawings.

Mistake # 3: Sample leakage does not mean transportation will not leak

The bag filled with liquid in the laboratory was left quietly for a day without any problems.

But the product won’t stay in the laboratory forever.

It may experience sea freight, container stacking, truck vibration, or compression and falling during express sorting. Especially for large capacity liquids, if a bag suddenly ruptures, it is often not just this product that suffers.

Therefore, the edge sealing strength is only the beginning.

Drop testing, pressure resistance testing, burst testing, and sealing testing need to be arranged according to the weight of the product and the transportation environment. What really affects the results are the welding position of the suction nozzle, the stress on the bag corner, and the ductility of the material itself.

Leakage problems are usually very quiet.

Until the entire box of goods is contaminated.

Mistake # 4: The file was not prepared, and the problem was only discovered when the goods arrived at the export stage

The production has been completed and the shipping schedule has been booked.

At this point, the procurement team begins to search for food contact material documents, or discovers that the testing materials required by the target market are not fully prepared, which may disrupt the entire process.

For food, beverages, and infant products, the packaging itself also needs to meet the compliance requirements of the corresponding market. The requirements of relevant documents and systems such as FDA, EU 10/2011, ISO, etc. need to be confirmed in advance based on the actual sales market.

The production environment can also affect procurement decisions.

Especially for liquid products with high hygiene requirements, dust-free production conditions, raw material management, and quality control processes should be confirmed before cooperation, rather than waiting for problems to occur before asking further questions.
